About this product
Osmo TopOil is an oil-wax combination for wooden furniture and worktops. It is designed for surfaces that come into contact with food, such as kitchen worktops, tables and chopping boards. The finish repels water and dirt, stays microporous and will not crack or peel.
Clear oil darkens wood. TopOil 3068 Natural counters this with a light white pigmentation, so light woods such as oak, spruce and maple keep their natural colour. On dark or reddish woods, 3068 shows as a slightly white, chalky haze; choose a clear TopOil there instead.
Suitable for furniture and worktops in solid wood or edge-glued panels (kitchen worktops, chopping boards, desks, shelving), and also for cork and OSB. After two coats of approx. 30-40 ml/m² each, the surface resists wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water according to DIN 68861-1A.
For maintenance, clean with a damp cloth and Osmo Spray Cleaner (or diluted Osmo Wisch-Fix) and wipe dry. Remove stubborn marks with Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner 3029, which also refreshes the surface.
How to use it
- The wood must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%). Remove old paint or lacquer completely.
- Sand, finishing at P120-180 or finer (depending on the wood). Remove the dust thoroughly.
- Stir well, do not thin. Apply the first coat thinly along the grain with an Osmo microfibre roller, flat brush or applicator pad and spread well. Do not wipe off with a cloth.
- Leave to dry for approx. 24 hours with good ventilation. Between coats, sand carefully at most with a buffing fleece or sanding sponge.
- Apply the second coat thinly and quickly. For worktops, 2 coats of approx. 30-40 ml/m².
- For renovation, 1 coat with an applicator pad or lint-free cloth is usually enough.
