About this product
Osmo Polyx-Oil Original (sold in Belgium as Hardwax-Olie Original) is the classic Osmo finish for wooden floors. It combines plant oils and waxes in one product: the oil penetrates the wood, the wax gives a hard-wearing surface that repels water and dirt. The finish stays microporous, so it will not crack, peel or flake.
Oils usually make wood darker and warmer. 3041 Natural counters this with a small amount of white pigment, so light European woods such as oak, ash and pine keep their natural, raw colour. Apply 3041 as the first coat and finish with a clear matt hardwax-oil, for example Osmo Polyx-Oil Original 3062 matt. Not recommended on dark or reddish woods.
Suitable for all indoor wooden floors: solid wood, planks, parquet, strip flooring, OSB and cork, as well as stairs and furniture. Once dry, the surface resists wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water (DIN 68861-1A) without water marks.
For routine cleaning, mop with a damp (not wet) mop and water with Osmo Wisch-Fix (Wash and Care). Worn spots and stubborn marks can be refreshed with Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner 3029. When the floor becomes dull over time, apply a thin coat of Osmo Maintenance Oil, no sanding needed.
How to use it
- The wood must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%). Remove old paint or lacquer completely.
- Sand starting with a coarse grit; finish floors at P100-120 (coloured: at least P100, P120-150 for an even colour), furniture at P120-180. Vacuum the dust thoroughly.
- Stir well, do not thin. Apply thinly along the grain with an Osmo microfibre roller, floor brush or flat brush and spread well. Do not wipe off with a cloth.
- Leave to dry for approx. 24 hours with good ventilation, then finish with a thin coat of clear matt Polyx-Oil (e.g. 3062).
- When renovating an oiled surface, one coat on the clean, dry floor is usually enough.
